“Amazon Launches 30-Minute Grocery Delivery Service Amazon Now”

Published:

Amazon has launched a rapid grocery delivery service that promises to deliver orders in less than 30 minutes. Customers will have access to a wide selection of groceries and household essentials, ranging from everyday items like milk and eggs to necessities such as diapers and medications.

This move by Amazon puts them in direct competition with supermarkets that already offer similar expedited delivery services through partnerships with delivery companies. Last September, Amazon closed all its Amazon Fresh grocery stores, leading to this new initiative.

The new service, called Amazon Now, is currently being tested in select areas in London, with plans to expand to more locations in the near future. Delivery riders, recruited through Amazon Flex, will fulfill orders using bicycles.

John Boumphrey, Amazon UK country manager, highlighted the convenience and speed of Amazon Now in a blog post, emphasizing the company’s commitment to fast and efficient delivery services for customers nationwide.

In addition to this initiative, Amazon partnered with Gopuff last July to provide ultra-fast delivery options. Prime members can benefit from discounted delivery fees starting at £1.99 per order, compared to £3.99 for non-Prime members. Prime membership also includes free, fast delivery on millions of items across various categories.

Amazon’s latest move underscores its focus on online delivery services following the closure of its physical grocery stores. The company remains dedicated to improving the shopping experience for customers by offering faster, more affordable delivery options.
