Tyson Fury Reveals Potential Opponents: Joshua, Usyk, Wardley

Published:

In preparation for his anticipated comeback, Tyson Fury has unveiled a list of three potential opponents for his upcoming fights, with Anthony Joshua being a prominent name on the roster.

The ‘Gypsy King’ had previously announced his retirement from boxing last January after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk but has since reversed his decision. Fury, 37, has been intensifying his training regimen in recent months and is currently honing his skills in Thailand to gear up for a significant year in the boxing ring.

Training alongside WBC bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena, Fury has been vocal about his desire to face his long-time rival Usyk for a third time, following their last encounter in December 2024. Additionally, the former heavyweight world champion is eyeing potential matchups with compatriots Joshua and Fabio Wardley, as indicated by a recent image shared on his Instagram account, depicting him facing off against the trio of heavyweight contenders.

Amid speculations, Fury hinted at a possible showdown with Wardley, mentioning the potential for a fight later in 2026 after a prolonged absence from the ring. Wardley’s impressive victory over Joseph Parker last October propelled him to the WBO interim title, subsequently upgraded to full champion status after Usyk relinquished the title.

While a trilogy fight with Usyk seems uncertain, with Usyk’s advisor suggesting their rivalry has concluded, fans are eagerly anticipating a British clash between Fury and Joshua. However, Joshua’s future remains uncertain following a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends. Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding a potential Fury-Joshua bout, hinting that the matchup might not materialize until late 2026, considering the recent tragic events affecting Joshua.

Warren expressed empathy for Joshua’s situation, emphasizing that boxing is likely not a priority for Joshua at the moment, given the emotional toll of the tragic incident. The boxing community remains on edge awaiting further developments in the potential matchups involving Fury, Joshua, and other contenders in the heavyweight division.
