David Malukas set the pace with the quickest practice lap during the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event in Markham. Malukas clocked in a time of 1:14.194 in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for the evening.
Following closely behind, Alex Palou secured the second-best time with 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger claimed the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 around the Markham downtown road course.
The first day of track sessions had to be called off by organizers due to the incomplete status of the course, which had not yet undergone safety inspections.
This year marks the inaugural race in Markham, having shifted from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had topped the time charts during the morning practice session, completing a lap in 1:14.9915.
