“Liberal Government Introduces Bill to Streamline Bureaucracy”

Published:

The Liberal government unveiled a new legislation on Wednesday aimed at streamlining federal bureaucracy by making changes to over 30 existing laws. The proposed bill, S-7, focuses on targeted modifications to alleviate unnecessary regulatory burdens, as stated in an official press release.

Spanning various areas, the amendments within the bill address issues such as fertilizer regulations, bankruptcy procedures, appointments within the Canadian Dairy Commission, animal waste management, and the integration of electronic tools and new technologies across government departments.

This legislative initiative follows a directive from Prime Minister Mark Carney in July 2025 for a comprehensive review of federal regulations spanning multiple departments. Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali reported in September of the same year that this review process led to the identification of numerous opportunities across departments to reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
