An Evri delivery driver has been fired after a video captured him tossing packages and using profanity at the residence of a police officer.
The incident, recorded on a doorbell camera, showed the courier carelessly throwing glassware-filled parcels at Matt Whitehead’s door in Didsbury, Greater Manchester. Whitehead, aged 46, received an alert on his phone from the camera, notifying him of the delivery driver’s actions.
In the footage, the driver was seen mishandling Whitehead’s deliveries on two separate occasions, hurling a parcel containing a mirror while making derogatory remarks about the homeowners. This behavior is not an isolated incident, as other delivery drivers have also been caught in similar acts despite their daily earnings.
Subsequently, the same driver was observed throwing fragile glassware into Whitehead’s porch in a subsequent incident. Whitehead described the driver as ‘abusive’ and noted that neighbors had previously reported his ‘rude’ behavior multiple times.
Upon reviewing the footage, Whitehead expressed concern over the driver’s aggressive and disrespectful conduct, emphasizing the potential impact on vulnerable individuals. The videos, captured on Whitehead’s Ring camera on October 3 and October 9, led to the driver receiving a final warning from the Evri complaints team.
Following the incident, the driver was dismissed by Evri, stating their commitment to customer satisfaction and their zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior. The company apologized to Whitehead, reassuring him that the driver would no longer be handling deliveries.
