“Deported Migrant Returns to UK Again, Faces Immediate Removal”

Published:

A migrant who previously returned to the UK on a small boat has been deported once again, as confirmed by the Home Office. The individual, who was detained on both occasions of arrival in Britain, was flown back today after his initial removal on September 19. Despite being sent back, he re-entered the UK nearly a month later on October 18.

Under the new ‘one in one out’ agreement between the UK and France, a total of 94 individuals have been repatriated to France. The Government emphasized that attempting to re-enter the UK after deportation under this agreement is futile. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood stated that the man’s attempt was swiftly identified through biometrics, leading to his immediate detention and subsequent removal.

Mahmood reiterated a strong stance against illegal migration, emphasizing that any future attempts to return to the UK will result in deportation. She pledged to enhance the expulsion of illegal migrants to safeguard the nation’s borders.

In a previous interview with The Guardian, the deported migrant expressed concerns about his safety in France, stating that he felt compelled to return to the UK due to threats and dangers posed by human traffickers. He recounted harrowing experiences of being threatened with violence during his time in France.

As part of a recent agreement reached in July, individuals arriving in the UK via small boats can be detained and sent back to France. In return, an equivalent number of asylum seekers with valid claims are sent back to France from the UK. This initiative aims to deter individuals from resorting to traffickers and risking their lives on dangerous journeys. The government anticipates an increase in the number of repatriations as part of this strategy.
