“Early Benefit Payments for Millions this Week”

Published:

Millions of individuals will receive their benefit payments earlier this week courtesy of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Various benefits such as Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, and the state pension may be affected, depending on the usual payment schedule. If your payment is scheduled for Thursday, Christmas Day, or Boxing Day, you can expect to receive it earlier on Christmas Eve due to DWP payments not being made on bank holidays.

In the event of an early payment, it is advisable to manage your funds prudently until the next payment date. Those expecting benefits on Thursday, January 1, should anticipate receiving them on Wednesday, December 31 instead.

In case your benefit payment is delayed, contacting the relevant office online, by phone, or your local JobCentre upon reopening is recommended. Keep in mind that helplines will be closed on bank holidays, reopening on the next working day.

Most benefits are administered by the DWP, while HMRC handles Tax Credits and Child Benefit payments. Child Benefit is typically disbursed on Mondays and Tuesdays, unaffected by Christmas bank holidays.

A comprehensive list of common benefit payments and their regular payment frequencies can be found below:

– Universal Credit: Monthly
– Personal Independence Payment: Every 4 weeks
– State Pension: Every 4 weeks
