Mercedes Supports Hamilton Through Ferrari Struggles

Published:

Mercedes’ head of communications has revealed that team principal Toto Wolff has been in communication with former driver Lewis Hamilton to provide assistance during a challenging season at Ferrari. The seven-time world champion has encountered difficulties adapting to the team due to an underperforming car and questionable race strategies.

Hamilton’s struggles were highlighted at the recent Qatar Grand Prix, where he failed to advance past Q1 in qualifying and finished outside the points in 12th place despite a comeback effort during the race. Currently sitting in sixth place in the drivers’ standings, Hamilton risks slipping to seventh after the final race in Abu Dhabi.

Expressing frustration with his debut season at Ferrari, Hamilton has described 2025 as his “worst season ever,” despite giving his all on and off the track. Mercedes has shown personal support for Hamilton, with their chief communications officer, Bradley Lord, confirming discussions and assistance to help Hamilton navigate through this challenging period, including Wolff accompanying him to race locations.

In an interview with CHAMP1, Lord acknowledged Hamilton’s dedication and commitment to his craft, emphasizing the team’s efforts to uplift and encourage him during tough times. Despite the setbacks, Mercedes believes in Hamilton’s potential to bounce back and remain a strong contender in the sport.

Looking ahead to the season finale in Abu Dhabi, Hamilton aims to secure his sixth-place position in the drivers’ standings with 152 points, closely trailed by Kimi Antonelli with 150 points. This race marks Hamilton’s final drive in the current Ferrari model, which has presented numerous challenges for him.

Team principal Fred Vasseur has urged the Ferrari squad to persevere and strive for a return to victory amidst the difficult season. Sky has enhanced its TV and sports bundle to include various streaming services and extensive Formula 1 coverage, showcasing every practice, qualifying session, and race alongside other sports events.

As Ferrari aims to conclude the season positively, their focus is set on preparing for the 2026 campaign, emphasizing the team’s determination to overcome obstacles and elevate their performance.
