“Greek Island Tourism Hit by String of Assault Allegations”

Published:

A female British tourist has reported being sexually assaulted by a hotel employee while staying in Greece. The incident, involving a 42-year-old male of Nigerian nationality, occurred in the woman’s hotel room on the island of Kos around 7pm on Monday. The victim, aged 45, informed the authorities that she had been under the influence of alcohol at the time and alleged that the employee took advantage of her intoxicated state.

Following the report, local police on the popular resort island initiated a search for the suspect, who was subsequently apprehended and is currently in custody awaiting a court appearance before the Kos District Court prosecutor. This incident comes in the wake of similar allegations made by other tourists in Greece earlier this year.

In a separate incident during the summer season, a tourist on Rhodes accused her masseuse of assaulting her during a massage at her hotel in Kremasti. The victim felt uncomfortable and violated by the alleged incident, leading her to file a lawsuit in connection with the assault.

Furthermore, a British teenager claimed to have been raped in the sea in full view of a crowded beach on Rhodes in July. The 16-year-old, vacationing with her family on the island, reported the incident to the police with her father’s assistance. A 15-year-old boy from Belgium was arrested in connection with the incident, with the accused asserting that the interaction was consensual.

Subsequently, the suspect was presented before the Public Prosecutor on the island, who referred the case to an investigating officer for further legal proceedings.
