Oliver Bearman expressed feeling nervous but exhilarated as he executed a bold maneuver to overtake Max Verstappen during the Mexican Grand Prix. The 20-year-old British racer achieved a remarkable career-high fourth place for Haas after starting from ninth on the grid in Mexico City.
By advancing three positions right from the start and seizing the opportunity during Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s on-track battle on lap seven, Bearman executed a daring move on Verstappen to secure the fourth position. Hamilton received a 10-second penalty for track limits violation, propelling Bearman to third. Despite making two pit stops compared to Verstappen’s one-stop strategy, Bearman managed to fend off Oscar Piastri in the final laps and claimed the fourth spot.
Reflecting on his performance, Bearman expressed his thrill at competing against seasoned champions like Hamilton and Verstappen, acknowledging the pressure of the intense race scenario. This achievement significantly boosted Bearman’s confidence, doubling his season points to 20 in his debut full F1 season.

Bearman shared his satisfaction at successfully defending his position against top competitors and expressed his surprise at challenging top cars in his rookie season. He sees this achievement as a positive sign for his future career, hoping such performances become a regular occurrence rather than a one-time event.
Despite his milestone, the London-born racer remains grounded and intends to celebrate modestly. He mentioned, “I’m on the first flight back home and I’ll be straight to bed, honestly.”
