“Olympic Champion Jessica Ennis-Hill Joins Sinfield for MND Fundraiser”

Published:

Jessica Ennis-Hill, the Olympic champion, has confirmed her participation alongside Kevin Sinfield in his charitable initiative to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Sheffield. Sinfield, who is on a mission to complete an ultra marathon every day for a week, began his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge on Monday.

This marks Sinfield’s sixth consecutive year taking on challenges to support MND charities. Through his efforts, he has already raised over £10 million, contributing to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.

The inspiration behind Sinfield’s dedication to this cause stems from his close friendship with Rob Burrow, a former teammate diagnosed with MND. Ennis-Hill’s involvement in Sinfield’s latest endeavor adds significant visibility to the campaign, helping to raise awareness about MND.

Ennis-Hill, renowned for her Olympic gold in the heptathlon and three-time world champion titles, transitioned into a successful media career post-retirement. She serves as a patron for various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.

Sinfield remains unwavering in his pursuit to find a cure for MND, especially after learning about former England World Cup winner Lewis Moody’s diagnosis. Moody, in turn, plans to host a fundraising dinner in April and organize a charity bike ride in 2026.

Following the Sheffield leg of his challenge, Sinfield is set to continue through Cumbria, Scotland, and conclude in Leeds on Sunday. For more information on the initiative, visit https://www.therhinos.co.uk/the-club/sinfield-together-2025.
