A missile strike carried out by Russian forces resulted in the death of 10 individuals in a village situated in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, as confirmed by Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, emphasizing its brutality on a bustling intersection in Pechenihy, Kharkiv region, which houses essential facilities surrounded by residential buildings. Zelenskyy shared images depicting severe destruction, including a demolished building, burning cars, and emergency personnel aiding injured individuals.

In response to the Russian strike, Zelenskyy vowed retaliation. The governor of the affected region, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that 17 people sustained injuries in the assault. The attack damaged multiple private buildings, a café, a post office, a store, and at least seven vehicles in the village.

Official statements from Russia regarding the incident were not immediately available. According to the Ukraine Prosecutor General’s Office, preliminary findings indicated that Russia utilized two small Banderol cruise missiles in the assault. Local sources revealed that the strikes primarily targeted the central area of the village, where key establishments such as a café, post office, and shops are located.

Simultaneously, Ukraine launched a significant drone offensive involving 620 drones directed at Moscow and its vicinity during the early hours of Tuesday. The mayor of Kyiv disclosed that Russian forces intercepted 180 drones over the Moscow region, with ongoing efforts by emergency services at crash sites. The drones targeted various sites, including a warehouse belonging to a Russian e-commerce company, resulting in injuries, including a 10-year-old girl.

Further reports highlighted extensive drone attacks from Ukraine on Russian-controlled regions, such as Crimea, leading to power supply disruptions. Russia issued a warning to the UK regarding the alleged supply of drones to Ukraine for attacks on Russian territory. The Russian embassy in London issued a statement cautioning Britain about potential consequences for supporting Ukraine in the conflict, referencing a report on British-made drones being used for strikes against Russia.

Britain’s Defence Ministry refrained from confirming the use of British drones in the attacks. In response to the embassy’s comments, a Defence Ministry spokesperson reiterated Britain’s commitment to assisting Ukraine in defending against the Russian invasion. Britain had previously announced plans to supply 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
