“Trial Reveals ‘Crypto King’ Lured Investors into Lavish Scam”

Published:

Stewart Wilson recalled the surreal experience of visiting Aiden Pleterski’s luxurious lakefront mansion, describing it as something out of a television show. Wilson testified in court that Pleterski claimed to be managing a substantial $30-$50 million investment fund from the opulent 8,000 square foot property in Burlington, which Wilson estimated to be worth around $8 million.

Despite initially expressing disbelief at Pleterski’s extravagant lifestyle choices, Wilson eventually invested $890,000 with him. Testifying for the prosecution in Pleterski’s trial, Wilson revealed that he was enticed by the success stories of Pleterski’s friends and family who had invested with him.

Pleterski, who faces charges of fraud and money laundering, allegedly promised investors high returns on their funds between July 2020 and July 2022 but failed to make any actual investments. Instead, the Crown argues that Pleterski used the money for personal indulgences like luxury cars, private jet flights, and extravagant shopping sprees.

Wilson’s involvement with Pleterski began when the latter rented a sports car from Wilson’s luxury car rental business, GTA Exotics. Impressed by Pleterski’s growing wealth and social media posts showcasing his lavish lifestyle, Wilson decided to invest with him. Pleterski, according to Wilson, claimed to be trading with a multimillion-dollar fund focused on gold and foreign exchange rather than cryptocurrency, an investment avenue Wilson was skeptical about.

Following a series of investments totaling $890,000, Wilson sought to withdraw some funds in March but encountered delays and empty promises from Pleterski. Pleterski, acting as his own legal representative in court, expressed a need for a lawyer and declined to question Wilson or another investor during the trial proceedings.

The case continues to unfold as the prosecution seeks to hold Pleterski accountable for allegedly using investors’ money to sustain his extravagant lifestyle, as depicted in the ongoing trial dubbed the ‘Crypto King’ trial.
