A woman who tricked her family and friends by pretending to be pregnant has caused outrage by signing an exclusive TV deal.
Kira Cousins deceived her loved ones by wearing a fake baby bump and later claimed to have given birth to a daughter named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce. However, her deception was exposed when her mother found out that the “baby” was actually a lifelike Reborn doll in her bedroom.
Reports have now surfaced that the 22-year-old is set to share her version of events after reaching an agreement with a production company. A PR agency representing her mentioned that details about the show’s airing date will be announced soon.
A close family friend of Kira, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed disgust at the idea of her profiting from the scandal. The friend criticized Kira for capitalizing on the situation and highlighted the emotional distress she caused to those around her.
The friend also revealed that documentary producers had approached her but she declined their offers. She mentioned being approached by a production company specializing in premium documentaries for major streaming platforms but chose not to engage with them.
Recent updates on Kira’s Instagram showed her enjoying a trip abroad, including a visit to Templo Ecumenico el Salvador in Gran Canaria’s Playa del Inglés. Leading up to the fake birth, Kira shared baby scans, videos of her gender reveal party, and images of gifts she received, such as a pram and baby clothes.
She even posted supposed AI-generated footage of the ‘baby’ kicking in her belly, along with details of hospital appointments and alleged health concerns during the pregnancy. The truth came to light on social media when her mother found the doll and messages surfaced of her fabricating the baby’s death to an alleged father.
Reborn dolls, like the one Kira used, can vary in price from £30 to £2,000, with some models simulating realistic baby behaviors such as crying sounds and wet nappies.
In a recent online statement, Kira confessed to fabricating the entire pregnancy and birth story, acknowledging her mistake and expressing regret for the hurt she caused. She admitted to faking scans, messages, and the birth itself, attributing her actions to being in a negative mental state.
Kira acknowledged the repercussions of her actions, foreseeing lasting consequences on her relationships and reputation.
