Malin + Goetz Enters Administration, Closes UK Stores

Published:

Beauty brand Malin + Goetz has gone into administration and closed all seven of its retail stores in the UK. The affected stores are located in various areas of London, including Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards, resulting in over 70 job losses.

In response to this development, online orders from Malin + Goetz have been temporarily suspended. A notice on their website informs customers of the temporary disruption in online shopping services, reassuring them that the collection will be available again soon.

Although the brand’s standalone stores are no longer operational, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers like Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.

A spokesperson from Malin + Goetz conveyed to TheIndustry.beauty that the decision to enter administration was made after a thorough evaluation of the business and exhausting all possible options. The closure of the UK stores and head office was described as a regrettable but necessary step due to the circumstances.

There is anticipation that the brand’s website will resume operations following a brief maintenance period, although the exact duration is unspecified. Established in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin + Goetz initially offered six skincare products catering to all skin types. Over time, the company diversified its product range to include fragrances, body care items, and various beauty products.
