“Asda Undercuts Competitors with New Pricing Pledge”

Published:

Asda has introduced a new pricing pledge, offering lower prices than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons on thousands of everyday items. The supermarket now features over 2,300 products priced below its competitors, spanning categories like fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items.

In addition, Asda has announced a special promotion for January where shoppers will receive 10% cash back in their Asda Rewards Cashpot for all fresh produce purchases made in-store.

Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing affordable prices to help families manage their post-Christmas budgets. She highlighted Asda’s focus on transparent and consistent pricing that benefits all customers without the requirement of a loyalty card.

Following a challenging Christmas period, Asda experienced a decline in market share to 11.4% in the 12 weeks leading up to December 28, according to data from Worldpanel. The supermarket saw a 4.2% decrease in sales, marking its 22nd consecutive month of sales decline, while competitors Tesco and Sainsbury’s expanded their customer base during the same period.

Recently, Tesco unveiled a new initiative to maintain low prices on 3,000 branded products through its Everyday Low Prices campaign.
