A young boy from Calgary who was rescued from a B.C. river after a near-drowning incident is currently recuperating in the hospital, with his family expressing concerns over his damaged lungs. Paul-Angelo Warren, aged nine, was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after going underwater.
His mother, Maria Warren, mentioned that bystanders at the beach acted quickly to assist, retrieving him from the water shortly after he went missing. According to an official statement from the RCMP, the boy was trapped against fallen debris by the river’s swift current before being rescued and administered CPR upon reaching the shore. Authorities suspect that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
Currently, the child is receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, with his family remaining by his side throughout. Maria emphasized the importance of her constant presence, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
