Fitbit has been a key player in promoting active lifestyles for more than 15 years. Now, under Google’s ownership, the company introduces the Fitbit Air, a new device designed for easy and affordable fitness tracking. Unlike previous models, the Fitbit Air lacks a screen and resembles popular Whoop bands that wrap around the wrist like a stylish accessory.
While foregoing features like message notifications and heart rate monitoring, the Fitbit Air boasts several advantages. It offers enhanced comfort, resembling a bracelet more than a smartwatch. A recent study by Google found the Fitbit Air to be more comfortable than its top competitors.
The Fitbit Air impresses with its battery life, promising a week of continuous usage without removal. Even if the battery drains, quick charging capabilities provide a day’s worth of power in just five minutes. Additionally, a new magnetic charger with bi-directional technology simplifies the recharging process.
Despite its sleek design, the Fitbit Air remains true to its core functionality. It monitors sleep patterns, activity levels, exercise routines, heart rate, and can even detect conditions like AFib, sending alerts for irregular heart rhythms to users. The device includes various sensors such as an optical heart rate monitor, a gyroscope, and sensors for oxygen saturation and temperature.
Since it lacks a screen, all data collected by the Fitbit Air is directly transmitted to smartphones. Through the Google Health Coach app, users can access a comprehensive overview of their health status. The Fitbit Air is water-resistant up to 50 meters and will be offered in four color options: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender.
As for pricing, the Fitbit Air will be available for purchase at £84.99.
