The most recent broadband complaint data has been released, revealing a mix of positive and negative trends. On the bright side, the latest statistics from Ofcom indicate an overall improvement in the broadband industry landscape.
According to the UK regulator, complaints concerning major broadband providers in the UK have reached their lowest point on record. The numbers have significantly declined from a peak of 40 complaints per 100,000 customers in 2011 to just six complaints per 100,000 customers in the first quarter of 2026.
Despite the decrease in complaints, TalkTalk customers are facing challenges as the provider’s performance lags behind its competitors. Ofcom’s latest data highlights TalkTalk as the most complained-about broadband provider in the UK between January and March 2026.
Ofcom reported that TalkTalk retained its top position in complaints, with issues primarily revolving around faults, service quality, provisioning, complaints handling, and billing discrepancies. TalkTalk registered 10 complaints per 100,000 customers, surpassing Vodafone (8) and BT (7). Conversely, Plusnet led with only four complaints per 100,000 customers, closely followed by Sky with five complaints.
In the realm of landline services, Utility Warehouse, Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone shared the top spot with a low rate of two complaints per 100,000 customers each. For pay-TV services, TalkTalk and Sky emerged as the top performers, each recording only two complaints per 100,000 customers.
Cristina Luna-Esteban, Ofcom’s Director of Consumers and Retail Markets, expressed satisfaction with the decline in broadband complaints, emphasizing the importance of companies continually enhancing their services to ensure a positive customer experience. Luna-Esteban encouraged dissatisfied customers to explore other provider options, highlighting recent regulatory changes aimed at facilitating easier switching and cost savings in the broadband and mobile market.
